About Me
Hi, welcome to my corner of the internet!
My name is Kathleen Haagenson and I’m a bookish content creator that belives that books, literature and reading is political.
While books are a beautiful form of escapism and entertainment I appreciate know how they’re a powerful and revolutionary tool.
Here I do my best to explore the various nuances and dimensions that make literature and books an amazing art form.
My mission is to encourage diversity and uplift BIPOC and marginalized authors and stories because there is power and beauty in our culture. The more we celebrate and amplify it the more we can destroy the systems, mindsets, and ideology that seek to destroy, silence, invalidate and erase us. We are stronger when united, educated and informed.
If you’re seeking to empower your mind, read diversely, think critically and have some fun while doing it. You’ve come to the right place.
Why I Created this Blog
I was inspired to start this blog after following various bookish content creators. I too wanted a space where I could share my love for books and literature. So, back in October I published my first post and have been growing and my blog and brand since.
My primary goal is to encourage new, returning and established readers to become socially conscious readers who diversify their reading by supporting and exploring BIPOC and marginalized authors and stories. To challenge their perspectives and explore the parallels and themes to better understand our society and the human condition in an effort to become emphatic and knowledgeable about other cultures, races, ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations, gender identities and lifestyles and the realities they face.
I hope to encourage readers to become more involved in their local and global community to support BIPOC and marginalized communities through volunteering, supporting nonprofiit organizations, and activism.
When it comes to my content you can expect to see book reviews, book recommendations, TBR lists, monthly wrap-ups, book hauls, and bookish lifestyle posts. As I’m still growing and working to expand my content I’m looking forward to exploring more ways to share book and literature related content that aligns with my overall goal.

How I Rate Books
When it comes to books and reading I’m fairly easy to please and I’m not too picky. I will read any and everything as long as it’s an intriguing story. I’m not overly critical and can easily suspend my disbelief and find I like to understand the author’s motivations and intent with their novel.
When it comes to reviewing books I strive to remain as objective as possible so I analyze and rate five key elements of the book:
- Content
- Writing Style
- Readability
- Plot Development
- Characterization
