📚Book Review: The Wager by David Grann

I didn’t expect to care about British Naval seamen as they set out on a mission to intercept and attack a Spanish galleon to retrieve the bounty it carried but alas I was hooked.

Grann’s ability to write about historical events in a captivating and engaging way allows you to immerse yourself in these events and become invested in the outcome.

The revelations about human nature under extreme trial and the psychological changes that occur when basic needs are threatened such as food, water and shelter. How easy it can be to slip into a savage and barbaric mindset.

How an empire’s lustful desire for power launched a wild campaign that ended in little victory.

Thoroughly enjoyed this novel and looking forward to reading more from David Grann in the future.

It's practically a mortal sin that I, a self-professed lover of all things vampiric, have never read Dracula until now. And wow, it did not disappoint.⁠

The eerie, unsettling gothic vibes were immaculate, and I had a general sense of unease and trepidation as the story unfolded. ⁠

Dracula is the most sinister and villainous vampire. I read with bated breath at each twist and turn of the tale. ⁠
